Charles Boyer hails from the Space Coast of Florida, where his family moved in the 1950’s to support the Army Ballistic Missile Agency and eventually NASA. His grandfather was a senior telemetry engineer at Kennedy Space Center and what is now Cape Canaveral Space Force station, and participated in a number of historic firsts: American’s first satellite launched to orbit, the Mercury program, the Gemini program and eventually Project Apollo. His father worked in fire and safety for Gemini and Apollo, and he was the “Missile Chief” for Apollo 11. That said, it’s fair to say that spaceflight is in his blood.
He has worked professionally as a research scientist involved in high energy laser systems, fiber optics and lightning protection for aerospace, nuclear and outside plant applications. Following that, he moved into information systems, working for both Fortune 500 and startup companies alike.
Along the way, Charles has worked professionally as a journalist, first covering college sports, where his blog “The Red and White From State” was cited by the New York one of the best of its kind. Later he covered golf for a major sports Internet media company and today writes for Florida Media Now and its customers. He has been a panelist on radio and television shows in the US and abroad, though he swears he has a face made for print.
Today, Charles and family live in Rockledge, Florida.
