A Florida man learned the hard way that sharks don’t have much patience posing for photos.

Shawn Meuse was posing with a lemon shark on a beach in Boca Grande when the animal turned on him, sinking its teeth into his leg. The moment of the shark bite was caught on video and quickly spread across social media.

In the clip, Meuse is seen gripping the shark by its snout under torchlight as a friend approaches and grabs the tail. That move apparently startled the shark, which whipped around and bit down on Meuse’s leg. He lets out a scream and the shark slips back into the water. Blood pours from Meuse’s leg as he sits in the surf, surrounded by panicked friends yelling, “Oh my God!”

“We’d just removed the hook and were about to release it when it turned and bit me,” Meuse told WINK News.

The New York Post reported that one of his friends called 911 in a panic, saying, “We have a tourniquet on his leg. He’s got a towel on it, trying to stop the bleeding. He’s awake.”

Meuse was airlifted to Gulf Coast Medical Center. Despite the attack, the Florida man is in good spirits and says he’s eager to get back to shark fishing.
