Wekiwa Springs State Park Will Require Reservations This Summer

Visitors to Wekiwa Springs State Park will soon need to plan ahead, as Florida State Parks is launching a reservation-based pilot program aimed at reducing long entrance lines and traffic congestion at the popular Orlando-area swimming hole.

Of all the things to do in the state, visiting one of Florida’s beautiful springs is high on the list. But be aware that some will require reservations. Beginning March 12, 2025, all day-use guests, including annual passholders, will be required to reserve their visit in advance. The reservation window opens on March 10, 2025, and visitors can book their spots up to 60 days ahead of time. The program is set to run through September 1, 2025, and will serve as a test to determine whether a reservation system should be expanded to other parks.

Why the Change?

The decision to implement the pilot reservation system follows ongoing concerns over long wait times and traffic backups caused by the park’s popularity. Officials hope the change will create a smoother, more efficient entry process for visitors.

How to Make a Reservation

Reservations can be made online at reserve.floridastateparks.org. There is no additional fee beyond the standard park entry fee, which is collected at the time of booking. Annual passholders can select “Annual Passholder” as their payment option and must show their pass upon arrival.

Same-day reservations will be available as long as space permits, but once the park reaches capacity, no additional reservations will be accepted.

What to Bring for Entry

Upon arrival, visitors must present proof of their reservation, either digitally or in print. Annual passholders must also show their pass. Those with camping reservations or concessionaire services (such as equipment rentals or tours) must provide confirmation of their bookings.

Other Important Details

  • No Walk-Ins: During the pilot program, only guests with a reservation will be allowed entry—except for those purchasing an annual pass in person.
  • Reentry Policy: Visitors who wish to leave and return on the same day must request a reentry ticket from the ranger station before exiting.
  • Refunds: Cancellations will be refunded, but no-shows are non-refundable.

Camping & Pavilion Rentals

The entry process for campers remains unchanged. Those reserving a pavilion may also arrange reservations for event guests by contacting the park directly.

Feedback Welcome

Park officials encourage visitors to share their thoughts on the pilot program by emailing ReservationPilotProgram@FloridaDEP.gov.
