ORLANDO – (Jan. 26, 2025) The Orlando Solar Bears fall to the visiting Jacksonville Icemen 2-1 Sunday afternoon at the Orlando KIA Center.
In the second meeting of three, also losing the first in Jacksonville 4-5 in overtime, the Orlando Solar Bears faced the Icemen here at home in front of a crowd of 6826 fans.
Period One: Solar Bears on the Board
The Solar Bears were the first on the board 5:17 into the game when Ara Nazarian scored assisted by Spencer Kersten and Hudson Thornton. Unfortunately, that’s where it ended for the Bears. Though if fights were counted, Wyatt Wilson’s fight with Justin McRae would have easily put the Bears in the win column.
In a cross check by McRae that went unnoticed by the linesmen and uncalled by the referee, Wilson took care of business “the old-fashioned way.” Both Wilson and McRae both got five minutes.
Forward Ty Cheveldayoff managed to sneak one passed Solar Bear goalie Alexis Gravel just two minutes before the period ended tying the game 1-1 for the first intermission.
Period Two
The second period, though scoreless and with only one penalty called, was filled with great plays and exciting moments befitting a fun, Sunday afternoon hockey game.
Period Three
Peter Tischke game gave the Icemen the lead 4:48 minutes into the third period and the Solar Bears spent the rest of the game trying to play catch up but just couldn’t seal the deal. What is truly amazing, though, is that there wasn’t a single penalty called during period three!
