Orlando – (Tue., Jan. 14, 2025) – The Orlando Solar Bears secure their sixth consecutive victory beating the Jacksonville Ice Icemen 2-0 Tuesday evening in the Orlando KIA Center!
The Solar Bears, now ranked #7 (currently 19-16-5), took on the #5 ranked Jacksonville Icemen (now 21-12-2) Tuesday evening in front of more than 4700 fans in another exciting night of Orlando hockey! Playing the Icemen for the sixth time, the Bears skated to a 2-0 victory and are now 3-3 (W-L) against their other Florida rivals.
Period One
Opening up, both teams showed incredible strength on the ice shooting an even eight shots a piece on goal. Though the period had plenty of decibel-raising moments, the teams retired to their locker rooms for the first intermission 0-0.
Solar Bears Take the Lead
With an incredible shot, Jaydon Dureau found the back of the net 9:47 into the second period and put the Bears in the lead 1-0! The Bears were able to hold on to their lead throughout the remainder of the period!
Nail in the Coffin
As one would expect, the Icemen came back on the ice for the third period with one goal in mind! At 17:38 Jacksonville goalie, Michael Houser, was pulled for a six-on-five attack but try as they did, the Solar Bears had a 6’-4”, 225-pound wall in front of their goal; in other words Alexis Gravel. With an empty net, Jaydon Dureau slapped in the last nail in the coffin.
Solar Bear Player of the Game
Rejecting every challenge the Icemen tossed at him (26 total in the game), Gravel was designated the Breakthrough Player of the Game!
