Hey Parrotheads! The Coral Reefer Band is bringing the island vibes back to Florida with a tribute to Florida’s adopted native son in Jacksonville. Mark your calendars for Saturday, March 15, 2025, as Daily’s Place transforms into a tropical paradise for the “Keep the Party Going: A Tribute to Jimmy Buffett” tour.
More than virtually any other artist, Jimmy Buffett’s music came to symbolize the Florida / Caribbean lifestyle, earning Florida’s highway A1A to be designated “The Jimmy Buffett Highway” last year. The Coral Reefer Band was Buffett’s signature band, formed by him in 1975. Mac McAnally, a long-time member of the Coral Reefer Band, emphasized the band’s commitment to continuing Buffett’s legacy, stating, “Jimmy wants us to continue and we want to continue.”
The Coral Reefers
For decades, the Coral Reefer Band has been the heartbeat of Jimmy Buffett’s signature sound, blending tropical rhythms with rock, country, and folk influences. The Coral Reefer Band, long-time collaborators with the late Jimmy Buffett, performed their final concert with him on May 6, 2023, at Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego.
Following his passing in September 2023, band members expressed their commitment to continue performing Jimmy Buffet’s music. On October 30, 2023, Mac McAnally stated in an interview that the Coral Reefer Band would continue touring and performing Buffett’s music at his request, reiterating statements made by bandmate Robert Greenidge in a separate interview on September 9, 2023.
The band reunited for the first time since Buffett’s passing on April 11, 2024, serving as the house band for the ‘Keep the Party Going: A Tribute to Jimmy Buffett’ concert at the Hollywood Bowl. At this event, McAnally introduced Scotty Emerick as a full-time member of the group.
This tribute concert featured performances by several of Buffett’s friends and collaborators, including Paul McCartney, the Eagles, Jon Bon Jovi, and Jackson Browne.
