Orlando KIA Center- Number two ranked South Carolina Stingrays gave our Orlando Solar Bears quite the stinging Sunday afternoon (Dec.1, 2024) winning 5-1in front of nearly 6000 screaming hockey fans.
Solar Bears Strong Out of the Gate
Though the Solar Bears were first on the scoreboard at 7:47 minutes into the game with a shot from the blue line by Darik Angeli and tipped in by Spencer Kersten, they seemed to lose momentum after Erik Middendorf of the Stingrays tied it up at 15:30; then completely fell apart after the first period.
Periods 2 and 3
The second and third periods were filled with Stingray goals (two per period), fights and penalties. In other words – other than South Carolina winning – it was still a fun hockey game! The impressive skating skills, physical agility, and remarkable toughness to endure such powerful beatings against the glass – and each other – make these athletes truly awe-inspiring.
The Solar Bears’ current record is now 8-11-2 (Win-Loss-OT Losses), making them ninth in the Conference and 17th in the ECHL (East Coast Hockey League).
