Looking for something fun and different to ring in the holidays here in Florida? A free event in Cocoa Beach on Christmas Eve might be what you’re looking for: Surfing Santas Cocoa Beach is an annual that brings hundreds of surfers of all ages dressed up as Santa Claus to the beach and on top of the waves. Admission is free.
According to event organizers, costumes are as diverse as the people who wear them. Spectators can watch them hang ten at no cost in a family event that will be fun for all. There will be t-shirts and other swag for sale, allowing you to take home a souvenir from a great event that helps great causes.
The event usually draws a large crowd, so it’s recommended for spectators to come early, dress warmly (depending on the weather), and to come with their Christmas experience to have fun. Children are more than welcome, and the event is a safe, fun family event for all ages.

Last year, Surfing Santas was able to raise over $100,000 for local charities:
The mission of the Grind for Life organization is to provide financial assistance to cancer patients and their families when traveling long distances to doctors and hospitals. The organization assists with lodging expenses, meals, and personal needs and supports families through the course of treatment, survival, and recovery.
The Florida Surf Museum was created to preserve and document the unique history and culture of Florida surfing. The museum showcases the heritage and traditions of the surfing community through events, exhibits, and programs, highlighting Cocoa Beach as one of the premier surf towns in the world.
There will also be a costume contest for those who want to participate. There will be five categories: babies (0-3), kids (4-15), groups (2 people or more), men (16+), and women (16+). The costume contest starts at 8:30 a.m., and Santa surfs out at 10 a.m.
