SpaceX said in a Tweet at 8:50 this morning that the Falcon Heavy Mission, USSF-52, will be delayed until tomorrow, Dec. 11th.
Originally scheduled for 8:14 PM today, the delay comes likely due to a forecast of deteriorating weather at Cape Canaveral as a cold front passes through the area. Rain and thunderstorms are expected as the front passes through the region between 5PM and midnight, with strong northwesterly winds afterwards. The launch window was only ten minutes, making a launch unlikely.
Observers on the ground are reporting that the Falcon Heavy on Pad 39A has been lowered to a horizontal position early this morning. It is unknown whether the vehicle will be returned to the hangar.
The forecast for the launch window tomorrow is somewhat improved, with the SLD-45 Weather Squadron Forecasting a 70% chance of “Go”, even though high winds will remain a concern.
